The Newcastle Stem Cell Research Centre
While John was a student in Newcastle he spent many hours working in Newcastle Central Library (which gets a mention in Chapter 21). The nearest station to the Library is Manors Railway Station and it was near here that we conceived putting the location of the Newcastle Stem Cell Research Centre.
When we moved back to the North in 2008 we discovered that fate had followed our invention. Located not far away from Newcastle's main railway station is The Centre For Life. We didn't know about this building until after the book was started but if we had known, then we would probably have had it in mind.
Sorry - this isn't 'The Centre' but if you are in Newcastle, it's a place well worth a visit.
